EMT
Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B) respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility. After receiving the call from the dispatcher, the EMT-B drives the ambulance to address or location given, using the most expeditious route, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The EMT-B must observe traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.
Firefighter
The primary function of a Firefighter is to protect the community from disaster situations, including house and building fires, and promote an environment of public safety within the City Fire Department’s response area. This position also participates in fire prevention and inspection activities, equipment and quarters maintenance, and training dealing with all phases of fire suppression, prevention, inspection, rescue and emergency operation. An employee in this classification performs the duties of other employees in the Fire Department when so assigned.
